Principles of Success in the light of the life of Prophet Mohammed

It is a well-known fact that the Prophet of Islam (saw) has been the supremely successful man in human history. But he was not just a hero, as Thomas Carlyle has called him. According to the Qur'an, he was the best example for all mankind. He has shown us the way of achieving supreme success in this world.

By studying the life of the Prophet (saw), we can derive those important principles which were followed by the Prophet (saw). Indeed, the Prophet of Islam (saw) was a positive thinker in the full sense of the word. All his activities were result-oriented. He completely refrained from all such steps as may prove counter-productive.

1. First Principle: To begin from the possible

This principle is well explained in a saying of Aishah (ra). She said: "Whenever the Prophet had to choose between two options, he always opted for the easier choice." (Al-Bukhari) To choose the easiest option means to begin from the possible, and one who begins from the possible will surely reach his goal.

2. Second Principle: To see advantage in disadvantage

In the early days of Mecca, there were many problems and difficulties. At that time, a guiding verse in the Qur'an was revealed. It said: "With every hardship there is ease, with every hardship there is ease." (94:5-6).

This means that if there are some problems, there are also opportunities at the same time. And the way to success is to ignore the problems and avail the opportunities.

3. Third Principle: To change the place of action

This principle is derived from the Hijrah. Hijrah was not just a migration from Mecca to Medina. It was to find a more suitable place for Islamic work, as history proved later on.

4. Fourth Principle: To make a friend out of an enemy

The Prophet (saw) of Islam was repeatedly subjected to practices of antagonism by the unbelievers. At that time the Qur'an enjoined upon him the return of good for evil. And then, as the Qur'an added, "You will see your direst enemy has become your closest friend" (41:34).

It means that a good deed in return of a bad deed has a conquering effect over your enemies. And the life of the Prophet (saw) is a historical proof of this principle.

5. Fifth Principle: To turn minus into plus

After the Battle of Badr, about 70 of the unbelievers were taken as the prisoners of war. They were educated people. The Prophet (saw) announced that if any one of them would teach ten Muslim children how to read and write he would be freed. This was the first school in the history of Islam in which all of the students were Muslims, and all of the teachers were from the enemy rank. Here I shall quote a British orientalist who remarked about the Prophet of Islam (saw): He faced adversity with the determination to writing success out of failure.

Necessity of Loving Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم

In these present times, some people due to their misunderstanding consider the immense love for our beloved Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) equivalent to shirk. In spite of the fact that lovers of Prophet (Peace be upon him) consider him to be an "Abd (Slave) of Allah" and they have no intentions of comparing the Prophet (Peace be upon him) to Allah azza Wajjal (Naudhobillah), the comparison only comes due to ill thinking of opponents who look for ways just to accuse Muslims of Shirk and Kufr but what they forget is that their false takfir would return back upon themselves rather than it being applicable on the accused.

Let us Analyze this in light of Quran and Hadith

How the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) Behaved in his Home. het (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) Behaved in his Home.

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah.

As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu.

Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

How the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) Behaved in his Home.

Since childhood we men see our mothers and sisters working in the kitchen , doing the daily routine household chores of our home.

So what did Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) do when he would spend time in his home. ?

Order everyone to clean the house ?? NO !

Lie down on the bed and leave as it is ?? NO !

Order nicest dishes to be prepared ?? NO !

Eat and Sleep ?? NO !

The Apostle of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)
occupied himself at his home like a common man.

As Aishah ( (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anhu)) relates,
he used to clean his clothes,
milk the sheep and himself do his odd jobs.
She also says that he would mend his clothes,
repair his shoes and do similar other works.

When asked how the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) occupied himself at home, she replied,
"He used to keep himself busy in household chores and went out when the time for prayer came."

In another report related on her authority, she is reported to have said:-

"The Prophet of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to repair his shoes, mend his clothes and occupied himself at home even as any of you occupy yourself."

Aishah (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anhu) relates, "Allahs Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was very softhearted, the kindliest of all. He laughed often and smiled much."

Anas (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anhu) says that "he had not seen a man who was more clement and nice to his household members than the Apostle of Allah."

It is related on the authority of Aishah that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:-

"The best of you is one who is most nice to his wife and children and I am the nicest among you."

Abu Huraira said that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) never expressed disapproval of any food, if he desired he ate it, and if he disliked he left it alone."
